He paid homage to Vyas by garlanding the statue of the officer who was shot dead at Lalbahadur Stadium, in Hyderabad, during his morning jogging by Maoists on January 27, 1993

Addressing the trainees, Prasada Rao recalled the sequence of events on the fateful day when the brave officer was killed by Naxalites.

On the 21st death anniversary of Vyas, many anecdotes were shared by his colleagues and friends at the memorial lecture organised by Andhra Pradesh Police Academy (APPA) on Monday.

" It was he who was instrumental in forming the Greyhounds, the name which used to send jitters down the spine of the Naxalites," said Rao.

The 18th KS Vyas memorial lecture on ‘Intelligence and Counter Terrorism’ was delivered by retired IPS officer KC Reddy on the current challenges to national integrity.

Reddy said that he was a visionary, a true hero having high dreams and inspired everyone to follow his path. Vyas was the founder of the elite Greyhounds aimed at combating the Maoist movement. The senior police officer was known for his perseverance in the operations.
