Hyderabad: The State Assembly on Wednesday witnessed a flash sit-in by Seemandhra MLAs belonging to TDP and YSRCP here on Wednesday demanding the Speaker to put the draft Telangana Bill to vote. The sit-in lasted about eight hours.
As the MLAs said that they would continue with the sit-in throughout the night, the officials of the Assembly held several rounds of talks with them and tried to convince them to call off the protest. Even the Secretary of the Assembly Raja Sadaram spoke to the lawmakers but they insisted on continuing with their protest. At 7.30 pm, following the decision of the Speaker to evict them, the police started making necessary arrangements. The entire Assembly premises were turned into a sort of fortress and heavy police force was posted inside the premises. Police vans and buses were kept ready to transport them.
Finally at around 10 pm, the marshals went inside the inner lobby of the Assembly and evicted them. The police then put them into waiting buses and dropped them at their respective party offices.
