The number of polling booths in the State would go up by 10 per cent as there is considerable increase in the number of voters after the 2009 election. The total electors at present are 6.24 crore as against 5.78 crore in 2009 elections. Accordingly, the number of polling stations would rise to around 70,000 as against 66,761 in 2009. Speaking to The Hans India, the Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh, Bhanwar Lal, said that the elections would probably be held in the united Andhra Pradesh as per available information. Nevertheless, the Commission was ready to conduct elections in two states.
On the transfers of employees who have been working at one place for more than three years, he said that February 25 was set as the deadline for the transfers. He said that the Commission would convene a meeting with District Collectors and Superintendents of Police on March 3 to discuss the arrangements to be made at polling stations. Bhanwarlal informed that the people who wanted to enroll their names in the voter list can apply till the nomination date. He said the elector-population ratio of 698 and gender ratio of 994 was almost on a par with the Census 2011 figures.
