Mahabubnagar: Congress could add to its tally by one more Assembly seat in Telangana with its nominee Ch Vamshichand Reddy winning from Kalwakurthy constituency on Monday. The re-poll conducted at polling booth no. 119 in Jupalli raised his victory margin. Reddy defeated his nearest rival Talloju Achary (BJP) by 79 votes. He was leading only by 32 votes when the counting for rest of the constituency was completed on May 16. The re-poll added to his victory margin by another 45 votes. The number of Congress MLAs in Telangana has risen to 21.
Speaking to media persons after the counting, Achary alleged that Kalwakurthy CI Bikshapathy had played a role in ensuring his defeat.
He said that the CI threatened the people from tribal hamlets not to vote for the BJP. The cop also forced the voters to cast their votes in favour of his rival candidate, Achary alleged.
However, the BJP leader added that he would respect the verdict of the people.
