According to reports, a low intensity earthquake shook the coastal town this evening. The quake measured 5.8 on the Ritcher scale Seismologists say that the epicentre was the Bay of Bengal. However, no tsunami alert has been issued nor any reports of damage reported. Also the earthqauke was observed in various parts of the state such as East Godavari, Vizianagram, Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam Districts. It is learnt that the port city citizens felt a slight tremble but are safe.
