Hyderabad: TDP president and AP Chief Minister-designate N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday urged Governor E S L Narasimhan to issue a red corner notice on K Gangi Reddy, who is one of the accused in the assassination attempt on him at Alipiri in Chittoor district in 2003. In a letter to the Governor, Naidu said that there was a threat to his life from the culprit. Reddy escaped to Dubai after getting bail in the case.

Holding the police responsible for his escape, the TDP leader suspected that his escape was not a casual occurrence and that there was political scheming behind it. He added that Reddy was involved in red sanders smuggling on Seshachalam hills in collusion with international smugglers. Naidu also demanded that Narasimhan order intensive combing operations, with the help of special task force, in the forests to completely eradicate the menace of red sanders smuggling.
