Hyderabad: With the Appointed Day fast approaching, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders are waiting with baited breath to know who all would be in the team of N Chandrababu Naidu, who would be taking oath as Chief Minister of residuary Andhra Pradesh on June 8.

They only hope that Naidu would not follow the Modi pattern and merge some departments and would prefer a compact cabinet.

So far Naidu has been keeping his cards close to his chest and is likely to start the exercise after the Mahanadu concludes on Wednesday.

Party sources indicate that Naidu will have a cabinet with proper blend of region, caste and age factor so that the new government can speedily implement the promises it had made during the elections.

Prominent from among the seniors who are in the race are Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Nimmakayala Chinna Rajappa, Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, C Ayyanna Patrudu, Pathivada Narayana Swamy Naidu, Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, KE Krishna Murthy, Bojjala Gopala Krishna Reddy and Gouthu Syam Sunder Sivaji, From the young MLAs D Narendra Kumar, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, K Atchannaidu and Alapati Rajendra Prasad and those who staged home coming before elections like Ganta Srinivasa Rao are also in the race.

Party insiders feel that Naidu might opt to make his trusted lieutenant N Chinna Rajappa as the Deputy Chief Minister under Kapu quota. KE Krishnamurty appears to be the front runner under BC quota. He represents Rayalaseema region.
