He will assume charge as the first Governor of Telangana state on the same day after demitting the office as the Governor of United Andhra Pradesh. Later TRS Legislature Party Leader K Chandrasekhar Rao will be sworn in as the first Chief Minister on the same day. Narasimhan said that the Governor’s rule would continue in the residuary state of Andhr Pradesh till the midnight of June 7. N Chandrababau Naidu, Telugu Desam legislature party leader, will be sworn in as the new Chief Minister of the residuary state on June 8. On his meeting with the new Prime Minister, he said he had apprised him of the bifurcation process and the steps taken for smooth division.

He said his meeting with Modi was quite successful and he was quite receptive and understanding. On the distribution of power between the two states, he said the allocation was made basing more on the power needs. The farmers in Telangana were depending more on ground water and bore wells and their consumption levels were high compared to the farmers in Seemandhra where agriculture depended more on the irrigation sources .

He said it would be the responsibility of the chief ministers of two successor states to sit together and sort out issues if any including power. Such cordial relations would help usher in a new phase of rapid development in both the states. On the protests over the alienation of seven mandals of Khammam district for merger with Seemandhra to facilitate implementation of Polavaram project, he called for steps to persuade the Bhadrachalam MLA, Sunnam Rajaiah to give up his fast. Orders were already issued for the merger. It would be the responsibility of the new government to ensure proper rehabilitation of the families facing the risk of displacement, he added.
