Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday assured the police department that the government will take up reforms and improve the working conditions of the police force so that the image of brand Hyderabad can be well protected.

Stressing upon the need to lay focus on policing he said, acid attack incidents on women would be strictly dealt with in the new State. Intelligence Network would be modeled on par with international standards to control the crime rate. Ten thousand CC cameras would be installed at various places in twin-cities to curb the crime rate, he said. Rao also announced slew of measures to strengthen the department. He said sub-categories in police department would be removed and it would be converted into a single force, he said. This announcement drew a big applause from police staff presents at the Parade Grounds.

He further stated that one-day holiday would be given to police employees so that they should not feel stressed out. Traffic personnel, whose job is very demanding, would be given special medical allowance.

They should be allowed to work in two-hour spells, Rao said adding that his government would go for new recruitments to address staff crunch and promised to replace outdated vehicles with new ones. Even the communication system would be modernized for quick response, he said.
