Godavari PushkaraluHyderabad: Exactly one year is left for Godavari Pushkaralu. According to Madhura Krishna Murthy Shastri, a president award winner, the Godavari Pushkaralu will start on June 28 next year and will end on July 9, based on the scientific calculation. Whenever there were Godavari Pushkaralu in the bygone time, people from all regions mostly used to visit Rajahmundry to have a sacred bath (Pushkara Snanam). Though few other places were also there for the intended purpose, mostly people used to prefer Rajahmundry. But, this time it may not be so. People of Telangana may look for an alternative, according to sources.

Yes, it’s true that the state bifurcation has divided the people for the sacred bath as well. Geographically, Godavari floats in either state. Beginning from Adilabad district it passes through various places in Telangana before it enters Andhra Pradesh. So, if it was a matter of taking the sacred bath, it could be logically undertaken at any place where Godavari floats. But, in the United Andhra Pradesh, if it was the season of Godavari Pushkaralu, it means Rajahmundry, nothing else!!

According to Hindu Mythology, the God Pushkar makes his presence in each river after every 12 years; and it is believed that taking a sacred bath in the rivers, when Pushkar is present, will wipe off all their sins. So, people look for Pushkaralu time to have a sacred bath. Madhura Krishna Murthy Shastri has disclosed the dates of next Pushkaralu of Godvari and said that for 12 days the Pushkaralu will remain starting on June 28, next year.
