Hyderabad: YSR Congress party on Wednesday demanded that the State Election Commission (SEC) take stern action against TDP and its leaders for violating Constitution and indulging in undemocratic and unfair practices during the recently held election to the chairpersons of Municipalities and Zilla Parishads and presidents of Mandal Praja Parishads.

In a letter to the SEC P Ramakanth Reddy, YSR party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy said the government-supported TDP cadres had unleashed a reign of terror in several mandals and municipalities by indulging in kidnapping, intimidating and threatening acts with the open and active connivance of the election officials.
Demanding that the SEC take action against the officials including district Collectors and Superintendents of Police, who connived with TDP functionaries and facilitated defections, he urged the Commission to appoint observers to ensure free and fair election for Nellore and Prakasam districts ZP chairpersons, vice-chairpersons as well as chairpersons and presidents of Municipalities and Mandals where elections are due. The party also submitted a video footage purportedly showing the allurements offered to the YSR party members by the TDP leaders in the Seemandhra districts.
