Robbery on Shirdi-Visakha Express, passengers threatened at gunpoint

In an early morning robbery, thieves launched an attack on Shirdi-Visakha Express. The train was passing towards Parchuru in Maharashtra when the thieves entered the train bogies S1, S2, S3 and S5. The passengers travelling in these bogies were threatened at gun point to hand over cash and valuables to the thieves.

A few alert passengers who heard the screams pulled the chain to stop the train. Further, the passengers who realised there was no security personnel on the train began protesting lack of safety on trains.

Soon as the train reached Poorna junction in Maharashtra, victims reported the matter to Railway Police and sought immediate action.
