Hyderabad: The shaking of hands, at the Begumpet Airport on Saturday, by AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and TS Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao which was considered to be an act of breaking the ice proved to be a short lived one, as Naidu sent his two Deputy Chief Ministers to meet the Governor and submit a memorandum protesting against the setting up of the TS Council for Higher Education.

Governor ESL Narasimhan perusing a memorandum submitted by AP Deputy Chief Ministers KE Krishnamurty and N Chinna Rajappa at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad on Sunday

The two Dy CMs KE Krishnamurty and N Chinna Rajappa on Sunday slammed the TS government for issuing the GO and said that it was an unfortunate act.

They said they sought the intervention of Governor ESL Narasimhan to resolve the impasse over counselling in the interest of the career of the students.

It was a hasty decision by the TS government to constitute TSCHE as the Supreme Court was likely to give its verdict on Monday on the issue of admissions for professional colleges, they said. They also pointed out that "section 75 of the Reorganisation Act says that common admission process would continue for all professional colleges in both the States for a period of 10 years and the process would be looked after by the AP Higher Education Council.

By issuing the GO, the TS government had violated the Act, they said. They said, "The Telangana government has no patience even to wait for the verdict of the Supreme Court. We have requested the Governor to protect the interests of students. The Governor promised us that he would ensure justice is done for all students."
