The illuminated Kondareddy BurujuKurnool: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will unfurl the tricolour and take the salute at the Police Parade Grounds here on Friday at the Independence Day celebrations, being organised for the first time as a State-level event after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. Naidu will address the gathering and present police medals and commendation awards to officials of various government departments.

Tabluex of various government departments displayed on 15 vehicles are to be a special attraction of parade. The departments include agriculture, tourism, industries, forests, IT, SERP, housing. A feature of the parade will be the unfurling of a massive flag and balloons using a 54-foot crane and the Telugu Talli statue specially prepared for the occasion.

Tight security is being provided for the ID celebrations. Police have virtually taken over the town. Officials from across the State are overseeing the arrangements at the grounds, where the ID rehearsal has been completed.

Meanwhile, a special photo exhibition organised here on Thursday in connection with ID is attracting the people’s attention. Among the photographs on display are those on the town’s history, visit of Gandhiji and President Rajendra Prasad and the first Prime Minister Nehru to the Secretariat at Kurnool when the town was State capital. There are some rare snaps of several leaders.
