Andhra Pradesh-DSC Notification: More Delay Likely. Notwithstanding the assurance of the AP Human Resources Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao that the DSC-2014 notification would be issued very soon, it appears that the aspirants for teachers’ jobs in the State will have to wait for some more time before realising their dream.

Hyderabad: Notwithstanding the assurance of the AP Human Resources Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao that the DSC-2014 notification would be issued very soon, it appears that the aspirants for teachers’ jobs in the State will have to wait for some more time before realising their dream.

Ganta had asserted several times that the 2014 notification would be released on September 5, which happened to be the Teachers’ Day. But the notification did not see the light of the day.

If issued, the notification will have requirements to fill up 10,500 vacancies. It later emerged that the Education Department officials chose to play safe by readying the draft notification on the lines of previous DSC-2012 notification. As per that notification, B Ed students will not be eligible for SGT (Secondary Grade Teachers) posts.

During his padayatra in the run-up to the 2014 elections, Chandrababu Naidu had promised B Ed students that they would be made eligible to apply for the SGT posts. But Education Department officials went by the rule book. D Ed aspirants who are opposed to allowing B Ed students appearing for SGT posts say that the Supreme Court, in its judgment, had clearly stated that no B Ed student can appear for SGT exam.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Ganta said the State government was willing to allow B Ed candidates to sit for the SGT examination but since the Centre had to give its clearance, there had been delay in issuing the notification. He said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu might take up the matter with the Central government during his next visit to New Delhi.

The upper age limit for taking the DSC examination has been raised to 40 years. Candidates with B Ed are more in number among the 30 plus age group and as such, they are pinning their hopes on the DSC-2014 notification as a last chance. It now appears that the government does not want to issue any notification till the issue is resolved.
