Andhra Pradesh Government to Monitor Power Supply Online. To ensure quality power supply to all consumers, Andhra Pradesh government is planning to bring online power supply monitoring system in the State by the end of September.
System to be in place by the month-end to ensure uninterrupted power supply to farmers
Hyderabad: To ensure quality power supply to all consumers, Andhra Pradesh government is planning to bring online power supply monitoring system in the State by the end of September.
In a teleconference with all Chairmen and Managing Directors and other top officials of the Discoms, State Secretary (Energy) Ajay Jain instructed them to fix modems and sim cards to all 9,254 feeders so that real time monitoring was possible and to complete this process by the end of September. This would enable consumers to know power supply position in any corner of the State at any time. The officials were asked to ensure seven hours of power supply strictly to agriculture at any cost.
Jain informed the officials that the government would not tolerate any shortfall of power even for one minute. The government was keen to provide quality and quantity power supply and even planning to extend power supply to agriculture up to nine hours in future depending upon the power situation, he added.
Power utilities must put all efforts to fully meet seven hours’ power supply to the farming sector and protect the interest of farmers by making all toll free call centers functioning more effectively in Discoms. Not even a single farmer should lose his standing crop due to failure in giving seven hours of power supply, he said and also requested the farmers to lodge complaint with concerned Divisional Engineer, if even one cent of crop dried up due to short supply of power.
He also directed field officers to identify hamlets which were not electrified so far and submit estimates immediately, as government was very particular on electrifying all households. Though the State stands in second position after Kerala with low line losses, the officials asked field officers to take every possible measure to reduce the losses.
AP Genco MD K Vijayanand suggested officials of all Discoms to inspect the field and monitor feeder-wise power supply position and to take prompt action to conduct substation level meetings duly involving the local public representatives and to take prompt action in redressing the grievances of the farmers.
