Skill development plan for AP soon, says Nasscom

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government and National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) would roll out a plan for skill development in the State.

A meeting between the NASSCOM vice-president Dr Sandhya Chintala and IT Advisor to the state government J Satayanarayana had taken place on Friday, in which Cyient Executive Chairman BVR Mohan Reddy too has participated.

Speaking to The Hans India, Sandhya Chintala said NASSCOM had held a meeting on the same earlier with different stakeholders from the industry and academia for revamping the syllabus to reduce the skill gaps, and to hone the skills of the students. A similar initiative has already been under way in Telangana state, and the same kind of programme would be implemented in the Andhra Pradesh too, she added.

She said NASSCOM has been engaged in the skill development programmes for last four years and so for it has trained nearly three lakh people along with the participating stakeholders.

Though the Andhra Pradesh government has intended to speed up its skill development mission programme, the sudden development of Hudhud cyclone hitting the State had however left the senior officials to put the issue on a back burner.


Another round of meeting on the issue might take place sometime in the last week of October, a senior official added.
