Goa casino owners eye Vizag
Goa casino owners are eying Vizag. The state government has even received applications to set up casinos in the port city.The deficit Budget can be filled somewhat with the Casino taxes if they are permitted. The Goa government, it is learnt, earns about Rs 100 crore annually in the form of taxes from more than 20 casinos.

The state government is yet to give the permission. Rough estimates suggest that gamblers from Andhra Pradesh spend at least Rs 70 crore a month in Goa’s casinos. The reports suggest 95 percent of Gambling in done in Goa mostly from foreign tourists. May be Vizag can Cash in some of it.
There is no doubt that casinos will help develop tourism in Vizag and attract foreigners, but the government seems to be taking the sentiments of the locals also into consideration before giving the go ahead.
Though Vizag is often called “Goa of the East” because of its wonderful and majestic beaches, the city fails to attract foreign tourists in large numbers. May be these casinos can turn it around for Andhra Pradesh.
