Guntur: In the backdrop of the government zeroing in on Mangalagiri in Guntur district as the capital region, the administration has geared up to develop tourism circuits. Apart from it, the administration has now focussed on promoting development of infrastructure.

District Collector Kantilal Dande recently held discussions with officials on creation of tourism circuits and providing basic amenities to tourists, including transport, organising of package tours in cooperation with Tourism Department.

Officials have identified different tourism circuits spreading across Guthikonda Bilam, Pidugurala, Kondaveti Fort, Kotappa Konda temple and Nagarjunasagar Eco Tourism. Apart from it, other circuits include Buddhist monasteries and library in Amaravathi, Panchar temple, Palnadu historical forts. The administration has decided to spend Rs 8 crore to give a facelift to infrastructure and providing hospitality to tourists and transport facilities.

Entrepreneurs will also be invited to promote tourism in the district. Plans are afoot to rope in Agri Gold group which has established popular entertainment tourism centre, called “Hailand.”

The District Collector told The Hans India that more facilities would be provided and existing infrastructure would be given a facelift to attract tourists.
