Hyderabad: The Jana Sena Party founded by popular Telugu actor Pawan Kalyan, who played a key role in campaign of BJP-TDP combine, is now registered with the Election Commission, paving the way for its foray into electoral politics. “The Election Commission of India has given registration to the ‘Jana Sena Party’ as a political party Under Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act,1951 with effect from 24.11.2014 vide Registration Number 56/118/2014/PPS-I dated 28.11.2014,” the outfit said in a statement on Thursday.

The Election Commssion has set aside the objections to the party’s registration in response to the public notice published in news papers treating them as unsustainable, it said. “The Election Commission has also indicated the facility of availing of Common Symbol under provisions of paragraph 10B of the Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order,” it said. The party already applied for registration in both Telugu states for local body election purpose. The 43-year-old star had campaigned extensively in support of the TDP-BJP combine in undivided State in the General Elections.
