Winged visitors beckon
The district officials are making hectic arrangements to ensure the annual three-day Flamingo Festival, to be inaugurated at the government junior college in Sulurpet by Minister Dr P Narayana on January 9, successful. Collector Janaki, Nellore MLC Vakati Narayana Reddy, local legislator Kilipeti Sanjivaiah have been busy overseeing the steps to attract a large number of people flock to the festival.
Flamingo Festival
Nellore: The district officials are making hectic arrangements to ensure the annual three-day Flamingo Festival, to be inaugurated at the government junior college in Sulurpet by Minister Dr P Narayana on January 9, successful. Collector Janaki, Nellore MLC Vakati Narayana Reddy, local legislator Kilipeti Sanjivaiah have been busy overseeing the steps to attract a large number of people flock to the festival.
The arrangements include finalising guides to brief on various birds visiting the Pulikat lake, providing binoculars to bird-watchers, drinking water, lavatories and toys for children. Janaki, who inaugurated a boat for the visitors’ ride in the lake herself took the trip on Thursday.
In an attempt to attract masses, officials have planned a hectic schedule on the first day after the inauguration. It includes cultural programmes, dances like Kuchipudi & songs by well-known singer Nagurbabu & party, Kolatam, dappu ‘vinyasalu’, and mimicry by actor Siva Reddy.
On the second day, there will be dance performances by actor Archana and choregrapher Sagar and a musical nite by singer Ramu & party. On the concluding day actor Rajendra Prasad will be presented with a gold bracelet. There will be a demonstration of ventriloquism and a performance by singer Koti.
