Hyderabad: Another blow for the doctors who are fighting against the Swine flu in the city. A kid died because of swine flu at the Gandhi Hospital on Thursday evening.

According to the sources, 35 patients were tested positive for H1N1 virus and were admitted to various city hospitals on Thursday and Friday. The authorities at the Gandhi Hospital have confirmed that a 51-year-old man from Bibinagar died of cardiac arrest, triggered by the swine flu.

Authorities said 24 new cases tested positive for H1N1 virus on the Sankranti day, while 11 new cases were admitted to hospital on Friday. Most of these patients came from Hyderabad as well as the neighboring districts of Mahbubnagar, Ranga Reddy and Khammam. Of the 11 cases, two were children. The death toll has risen to five this year including two deaths earlier this week. The total number of swine flu cases this year has touched 111.

“Six patients have been discharged. The patients come to Gandhi Hospital from private hospitals after serious complications. Only such patients have died,” said Dr K. Narsimhulu, professor of medicine at Gandhi Hospital.
