Hyderabad: YSR Congress on Sunday castigated the TDP government for its miserable failure in persuading the Centre to confer special status on the State as promised in the State Reorganisation Act. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had reverted to his old ways of closing down small sugar factories, it said.
“TDP government is unable to get any assurance on awarding special status to the Sate to pave the way for industrialisation. It shows that it has totally failed in tackling the issue with the Centre despite being a coalition partner of the NDA government. This apart there is no mention of seeking Central funds to make up for budget deficit to the tune of Rs 16,000 crore which remains a cause of concern,” party MP P V Mithun Reddy told reporters here.
The Chief Minister had failed to pursue to get additional funds to bridge the deficit though the Centre was to introduce Budget in March. Unless the Union government awarded funds before budget, all avenues to secure special grant would be closed, he said.
Naidu returned to playing with lives of the farmers. The action on the part of the government in serving notice on farmers for closure of sugar factory in Chittoor demonstrated it, he said.
