Be cautious while driving, people urged

Vizianagaram: District Collector MM Nayak here on Monday called upon the vehicle-users to follow safety precautions while driving the vehicles.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the Road Safety Week celebrations at the office of the Deputy Transport Officer, the Collector urged the vehicle users to make it a point to wear seatbelts and avoid overtaking other vehicles while driving. There would not be any problem reaching the destination 10 minutes late, he said and urged the people to exercise caution while on the road.
The objective of the Road Safety Week was to create awareness among the people that safety was a way of living rather than a mere slogan.
Mr Nayak said road safety committees would be constituted to identify places where accidents were occurring frequently and take appropriate measures to prevent mishaps.
The Collector flagged off the Road Safety Week campaign vehicles on this occasion. Deputy Transport Officer Krishnaveni said awareness programmes would be organised throughout the district during the Road Safety Week.
In-charge Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Shivaprasad and others participated in the programme.
