Kakinada: The United Teachers’ Federation (UTF) on Friday alleged that two Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLAs in East Godavari violated the poll code by seeking support of the teaching community to the candidate supported by the party in the ensuing elections to the MLC polls in the twin Godavari districts.
UTF district general secretary K Satti Raju alleged that the ruling party was indulging in such practices in a large scale in the district. He said Anaparty MLA Nallamilli Ramakrishna Reddy conducted a meeting with the teachers at Pedapudi mandal headquarters on Thursday and a similar meeting was held by Pithapuram MLA SVSN Varna at TTD Kalyana Mandapam in Pithapuram town on Friday.
Several teachers attended the meetings at the behest of MLAs as they were working in the schools in the respective Assembly constituencies, he said. This was in violation of the poll code by the two MLAs, Satti Raju said. When this correspondent tried to contact District Education Officer Narasimha Rao over phone on Friday on this issue, the latter failed to respond.
