Hyderabad: The South Central Railway has got Rs 2768 crore for the financial year 2015-16 in the Railway Budget presented in the Lok Sabha by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, South Central Railway General Manager P K Srivastava said, “This is 24 per cent higher than the allocation made during the previous financial year.” He said the total outlay earmarked for new lines, doubling, bridges, Road over Bridges, traffic facilities and other specified works is Rs 984.33 crore. This is 60 per cent higher as compared to Rs 616 crore allocated during the Financial Year 2014-15.

Similarly, for new lines, the budgetary grant for 2015-16 is Rs 511.6 crore, and this is 23 per cent more than that of previous year, he said. For doubling works, the budgetary grant for 2015-16 is Rs 233 crore and the allocation is 331.56 per cent more than the previous year. Likewise, for Bridges, the budgetary grant for 2015-16 is Rs 26.9 crore, which is 61per cent more than the previous year. For Road over Bridges, the budgetary grant is Rs 101.67 crore, for Traffic Facilities the budgetary grant is Rs 40.68 crore for 2015-16, he added.

Budgetary allocations for important ongoing new line projects in Telangana, according to the Railway Minister are: Peddapalli-Karimnagar-Nizamabad project with Rs 141 crore; Rs 35 crore for Gulbarga-Bidar project and Rs 20 crore for Manoharabad-Kothapalli project. He said budgetary allocations for important ongoing new line projects in Telangana are: Rs 100 crore for Mellacheruvu-Vishnupuram project, Rs 130 crore for Nandyal-Yerraguntla project and Rs 110 crore for Nadikudi-Srikalahasti project.

With regard to Andhra Pradesh, the new projects sanctioned in the Railway Budget are: Vijayawada-Gudur tripling of rail line project (293 km) at an anticipated cost of Rs 2423 crore. The budgetary allocation for the same in 2015-16 is Rs 55.4 crore. Duvvada-Vijayawada Tripling of rail line project (335 km) will be taken up at an anticipated cost of Rs 3350 crore. The budgetary allocation for this in 2015-16 is Rs 76.6 crore. Gooty-Dharmavaram-Banglore Doubling of railway project (180 km) will be taken up at an anticipated cost of Rs 1800 crore. The budgetary allocation for this in 2015-16 is Rs 41.16 crore.

The Renigunta, Dharmavaram and Wadi Bypass Doubling of rail line project (21 km) will be taken up at an anticipated cost of Rs 300 crore. The budgetary allocation for this in 2015-16 is Rs 6.86 crore, he said. The Vijayawada -Kazipet Bypass new rail line project (15 km) will be taken up at an anticipated cost of Rs 200 crore. The budgetary allocation for this in 2015-16 is Rs 4.57 crore. An amount of Rs 150 crore for Vijayawada-Bhimavaram-Nidadavolu doubling and electrification works has also been sanctioned.
