With hardly two months’ time left for the mega event, as many as 285 temples across the two districts are being renovated or given the face-lift to suit the occasion, with a cost of about Rs 85 crore. The amenities include electrification, provision of toilet facilities, dormitories, re- erection of centre pillars, improvements to temples and allied activity.

Of this total, there are more than 20 temples and choultries in and around Rajahmundry city alone and another 13 at Kovvuru on the other side of river in West Godavari and the rest of the selected temples spread over both the districts.

Both the districts have four of the five Pancharama temples with the fifth one at Amaravati in Guntur district. Of these, the Bhimeswara and Kumara Bhimeswara temples are at Draksharama and Samarlakota in East Godavari.
