With the Andhra Pradesh High Court and National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) already investigating into the Seshachalam encounter where 20 woodcutters from Tamil Nadu were killed on April 7 in Seshachalam forests in Chittoor District, the Supreme Court on Monday said it would not take up the case.

Stating the encounter as a fake, one of the family members of the deceased filed a petition to the Supreme Court to direct a CBI probe by the Centre into the encounter.


However, the Supreme Court denied the case stating that it is already being investigated by the AP High Court and NHRC.
