The farmer from Vizianagaram district was identified as D Ramu who hails from Chinaboghili village of Seethanagaram mandal, upset over the delay in release of money from the state government’s loan waiver scheme tried to commit suicide by consuming pesticide.


Ramu shouted slogans against the revenue staff and consumed the pesticide the presence of the Chief Minister, Labour Minister K. Atchennaidu, Rural Development Minister K. Mrunalini, MLAs and bureaucrats at the Neeru Chettu programme in Narsipuram village of Parvathipuram mandal.


Ramu was immediately rushed to the Parvathipuram area hospital by the district administration staff and police. District medical and health officer U. Swarajya Lakshmi confirmed that the farmer was out of danger and is recovering.
