Hyderabad: The Pushkaralu of River Godavari has gone hi tech. The pundits who have been making good use of technology to make astrological predictions have now moved a step forward and have decided to provide an opportunity to all those who want to perform certain rituals but would not be able to visit any of the Pushkar ghats in Telangana or Andhra Pradesh.

They have launched websites through which all pujas and rituals can be performed if they have the facility of skype. The e-rituals include homams to Pindapradhanam. All that the devotees have to do is to register their names and select the ghat (the place of worship) and the time schedule to perform the pujas.

After receiving the confirmation from the site managements, they should pay money through online only. The cost of the poojas varies from Rs 400 for Vidhistanam to Rs 3000 for Pindapradhanam and Musivayanam. The famous website Mulugu.com. which is offering ‘e- puja’ services in the Pushkaralu was launched following several requests especially from Telugus living abroad and those who suffer from age related problems in the country.

The users can chose any of the 25 Pushkar ghats across the two States. Using advanced technology, devotees and the priests will connect through skype during the pujas and perform the rituals. The recorded video tapes, along with prasadam will also be sent to the devotees by post.

Nearly 2000 devotees have registered their names, the website authorities said. The other websites providing such hi tech puja services are – www.navagrahapooja.com and www.poojalau com/Godavari pushkaralu The websites also provide the facility of booking priests online to perform all pujas at their desired places during the Pushkaralu.

It is expected that over 6 crore people will take part in the Pushkaralu in both the States. Lack of transportation and shortage of boarding facilities at the venues were also one of the main reasons for opting for e- puja, the website managers said.
