Rural development holds key for progress, says Ayyanna. The State government is working with an objective of providing toilets to each house-hold by the year 2019, Minister for Panchayat Raj, CH Ayyannapatrudu said, here on Sunday.
Rajahmundry: The State government is working with an objective of providing toilets to each house-hold by the year 2019, Minister for Panchayat Raj, CH Ayyannapatrudu said, here on Sunday. Stating that the state development is dependent on the rural development, he stressed the need of cooperation from the people to make villages- a diseases-free zone.
Delivering a address at seminar on Swachchandhra orgnised by Swachaandhra Corporation at Sri Anam Kalakendram in Rajahmundry, he mentioned that directions have been given to set up dumping yards in every village as water is being polluted and employment guaranteed scheme is going to be linked to the tune of Rs 3 to 4 crore to maintain dumping yards under modern solid waste management system, he said.

Minister also explained that there were no toilets for 68 lakh households in the State and lamented that 20 percent of people’s representatives are also not having toilets. He maintained that solid waste management system is going to be implemented in 659 panchayats and it would be extended to every village panchayat if this pilot project becomes successful. He announced that 3,171 digital tablets are being distributed to Panchayati Raj officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamineni Srinivasa Rao mentioned that most of mother and child deaths are taking place in Andhra Pradesh in South India and added that 9 lakh mothers are giving births every year in the state. Stating that state government has earmarked Rs 5,700 crore for medical and health, he announced that steps are being taken to appoint 1,400 doctors and 4,000 nurses in the state and added that Rs 300 crore is being allocated to enhance basic infrastructure in hospitals. Minister for Labour K Achhanaidu and Rajahmundry MP M Muralimohan also spoke on the occasion.
