Rajahmundry: As many as 3.6 crores of people took holy dip at various Ghats of both the Godavari districts till Thursday, according to government sources. The authorities are now bracing themselves to face the influx of pilgrims in the last two days of the mega event. The peak of influx was on last Saturday, as around 60 lakh pilgrims took holy dip in Rajahmundry according to authorities.

The state government has made arrangements to provide food at every possible place in Rajahmundry during Pushkaralu and is offering food for six lakh devotees daily. Besides the government, 27 NGOs and private organisations are also offering food alongside many individuals. One organisation has distributed famous Putharekulu, the famous sweet of this area for pilgrims.
Meanwhile, many differ with the statistics given by the authorities on pilgrim turnout.

As per official estimates, 4.5crore took holy dip in 12 days of Godavari Pushkaralu. However, as the total population of the state is below five crores, with substantial number of Christians and Muslims, and the number of people coming from neighbouring States being minimal, the entire population in AP should take holy bath to meet the estimates.

Special officer for Godavari Pushkaralu, K Dhanunjaya Reddy admitted that there might be a counting error, but no one expected this greatest rendezvous, he claimed. According to Superintendent Engineer, Irrigation, Sugunakara Rao, fresh water is available in the River to take holy dip as 47 thousand cusecs of water is reaching Sir Arthur Cotton barrage from upstream and 12 thousand cusecs of water is being released from Sileru. The Pushkaralu pilgrims to Rajamundry, are visiting Annavaram also as about 90,000 devotees had darsan of Lord Sri Satya Deva on Wednesday day alone.
