Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments seem to be locking horns once again over Palamuru and Dindi projects. It is learnt that the Principal Secretary (Irrigation, AP) wrote a letter to his counterpart in Telangana S K Joshi on Wednesday that Telangana was making false claims about Palamuru-Rangareddy and Dindi projects.

He is said to have reiterated that these projects were not old as the Telangana government was claiming and hence they require fresh permission from appropriate authorities. The united AP state has accorded permission for Palamuru-Rangareddy only for investigation and there were no allocation of water by the combined AP for Palamuru and Dindi, the AP government said.

Reacting sharply to this, the Telangana Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao in statement to the media made it clear that such letters cannot stop the TS government from going ahead with the construction of the project. He said that Palamuru and Dindi projects were not new as was being claimed by the AP Government.

On the other hand, it is the Pattiseema project which was a new one and requires permission.Rao said the AP government should go through the old permissions accorded to the Palamuru project by the undivided AP government. He alleged that AP leaders had written similar letters in the past to stop carving of separate Telangana and failed to.

He said the Telangana government has all necessary evidence to prove that this project has water allocations, Harish said.
