Alleges those who aided bifurcation are now hitting streets on some pretext or other

New Delhi: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched a broadside against the Opposition for “senselessly attempting to instigate the people against the government through its false propaganda” here on Thursday.

Setting the record straight, Naidu detailed the hard work of the government in the last 15 months for the development of the State and the benefits reaped in the form of investments, agreements, allocation of institutions and funds by the Centre.

As against the constructive work being done by his government, the Opposition’s efforts to disrupt the government’s functioning and stall progress was unfortunate, he said.

The same leaders and parties that were responsible for the backwardness of the State and its subsequent bifurcation were out on the streets to block all development on one plea or the other.

Urging people, particularly farmers not to get demoralised with the YSRCP propaganda, he said committing suicides was not the solution. The government was standing behind all sections of the society and special status was not the panacea for all ills confronting the nascent State devoid of even a capital, he added.

Polavaram and Amaravati were two of his biggest dreams and his plans for overall development of all districts and regions would bear fruit in the next five years, he added. Earmarking of the land for the High Court etc, would be done soon once the ground level plans were completed.

Listing out the institutions, projects and businesses that had already parked in the new State and the advantages thereof for the people in the long run, he said his plans to achieve the double digit growth by next year would be a reality.

In this backdrop, accusing the government of nepotism or inefficiency or failures was absurd, he said asking the Opposition and the media to play a positive role. On whether he preferred to talk to all parties in this regard, he said there was no point in doing so when the only agenda of the opponents is negativism.

"Trying to defame me or attempting to render me unpopular will not yield any result and if you stall the progress and growth. I won’t tolerate. There is a way to launch a dharna and you cannot occupy, just like that, any place or street and create problems for the general public and the administration,” Naidu added.

On the success of his Delhi visit, he said that it was agreed upon to locate the petroleum university at Visakhapatnam and allot three institutes to Kakinada instead-Institute of Logistics, NIFT and a Packaging Institute. He also requested the Centre to explore the possibility of taking over the Vanpic project.

In his interaction with the Union Ministers of Finance, Urban Development, Agriculture, Water Resources, Roads, Shipping and Waterways, Commerce, Civil Aviation, Home and Science and Technology in the last two days, he insisted upon speedy clearance of all pending issues.

“We need a hand to hold us, you got to help us. We are at a great disadvantage and need your help,” he appealed to the Centre.
