Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet had finalised the site for the foundation stone to be laid for Amaravati, the new capital city, slated for October 22.
The Cabinet, which met here on Thursday, also fixed the Muhurtam between 12.35 pm to 12.45 pm, said the Minister for Urban Development, Dr P Narayana.
Briefing the media persons about the Cabinet decision, Dr Narayana said that the government had identified 50 acres land on the banks of river Krishna near Tallayapalem where earth breaking ceremony was conducted on June 6, this year.
The foundation stone would be laid between the flood bank and the river close to Tallayapalem, which would be the part of the core capital. The government had also proposed twin towers here, which would stand as iconic towers for the new capital, the Minister said.
The Minister further said that they have identified 3,000 acres in the triangular area of Uddandarayunipalem, Mandadam and Tallayapalem for the core capital area.
He said that the Singapore companies have asked the State government to give these 3,000 for building the capital. However, he said that the government had not agreed to delegate the land and had asked the Singapore to partner with the CRDA to build the capital.
The CRDA would own the land and both the CRDA and the Singapore government would invest on infrastructure and buildings, he said. He added that the value of the 3,000 acres would also be calculated and would be taken as CRDA share in the total expenditure.
However, he said that the government had not decided the cost of the land. In reply to a question, the Minister said that the Singapore government would propose the price in its total proposal for the core capital.
He added that besides Singapore, other countries like Japan have also shown interest in the capital building and said that the government would invite other countries to partner the new capital construction.
