Vijayawada: The administration is busy in making arrangements for a ceremonial function meant for capital foundation, as the date and the chief guest are finalised and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held series of review meetings after he returned from Delhi tour on Tuesday. It is all set to make the ceremony as a State event.

In all likelihood, the ceremony is set to supersede the Dasara festival, to be held on the same day. However, according to highly placed sources, there would be no foundation stone to be laid and the event would be limited to ceremonial function.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi would lead the ceremony amidst Vedic scholars reciting hymns. The function will witness some pooja, recital of Vedic hymns followed by honouring the guests, particularly the farmers.

The government constituted four committees on the first day; Organising Committee, Reception Committee, Venue Committee and Cultural/Media Committee.

The Ministers, MPs and senior legislators would be part of the Organising Committee, while the Krishna district Collector Babu Ahmed would head the Reception Committee.

The Venue Committee will be headed by the Guntur Collector, Kantilal Dande. Media Advisor, Dr Parakala Prabhakar would head a committee to look after media and cultural programmes for the event.

The government will invite the farmers of the 29 villages who gave their lands for of the capital.
