Thousands of passengers were seen waiting on the platforms to board buses to reach destinations on Thursday. Even as the South Central Railway (SCR) and the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) ran additional services to clear the Dasara rush, long queues were seen hanging around the booking points at the stations.
The condition of the Bus Station was near havoc with people being impatient due to the long queues and crowded environment. Students who failed to acquire reservations were seen running from one corner to the other in anticipation of tickets so that they can transit to their homes as per planned schedule.
The management made all efforts by pulling off a few additional buses, which are already plying for the festive rush in the city. Many people booked to and fro tickets in advance and reservation for additional services were also closed a couple of days ago.
There was a heavy demand for reservations to Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and Tirupati besides Kurnool, Kadapa, Tadepalligudem, and other places in East Godavari, West Godavari and Vishakhapatnam. Meanwhile, the private carriers like seven seater autos, 10 seater vans and private cabs made a killing owing to the demand. Most of them have run services to Guntur, Tadepalli, Ibrahimpatnam, Challapalli and many more.
