Buttayagudem: A tribal was shot dead by unidentified persons at Inumuru village in the Buttayagudem mandal on Saturday late at night. The deceased was identified as Guruguntla Subba Reddy (50) who was a leader of Kondareddy tribe in Bodderu village.

According to Jangareddigudem Circle Inspector Srinivasa Yadav, the victim was returning to his house in Bodderu after visiting Jangareddigudem along with his nephew, around 10 PM on Saturday, on a motor cycle.

The assailants, who lay in wait at Inumuru, shot the victim from rear using a country-made rifle. Subba Reddy died on the spot while his nephew who was driving rushed back to his village.Confirming the same, Jangareddigude DSP J Venkat Rao said the deceased was involved in settling the disputes among the villagers.

He had recently settled a land dispute favouring one party. “Prima facie, it appears that the aggrieved party might have attacked him. However, only further investigation can reveal exact details, and the investigation is on,” he added.
