Nellore: District administration has set up emergency control rooms and helplines for taking up necessary action at all mandals in the district. Large number of employees and officials were drawn in monitoring emergency control rooms and helplines. It may be recalled the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that the district would receive heavy rains from Monday and officials were taking precautionary measures to save human loss by controlling vehicular movement in areas where the streams and rivers likely to enter human habitations and flow on to the roads.
District Revenue Officer M Sudarshan Reddy said that the IMD had warned Nellore likely to receive heavy rainfall in next 3 days and have engaged all government officials in managing helplines and emergency control rooms for meeting any emergency situation. He also said they would engage officials even at the water bodies for monitoring levels for any damages or breaches that would pose threat to lives of people.
