It was a test of their years of hard work and toil as they stepped on the stage to take part in bodybuilding and weightlifting championships held under the aegis of Sports Board of Adikavi Nannayya University on the premises of the university.

Eighty students from affiliated colleges from East and West Godavari districts came and wooed the crowds. It was a test of their years of hard work and toil as they stepped on the stage to take part in bodybuilding and weightlifting championships held under the aegis of Sports Board of Adikavi Nannayya University on the premises of the university.
While inaugurating the competitions on Friday, Vice-Chancellor M Mutyala Naidu announced that special medals would be given to medal winners at All-India level.
The stage was set and 80 competitors came up to show their rippling muscles to a crowd that cheered them over and over again. Chiselled as they were, the participants were sorted out in several categories according to their weight.
Physical Director of the University, A Satyannarayana, informed that winners of the competition would be selected for All India Inter-University championship to be held at Acharya Nagarjuna University in January, 2016.
International referee Dr Rathnakar, State Weightlifting Association secretary Badeti Venkata Rao said fitness is no longer just a passing fad; it has become a lifestyle statement in the city. The concept of `well-being' has taken new dimensions in the city. Doing a work out is not just a fashion fad, it is one sure way to stay healthy, he added.
State bodybuilding secretary K Gurnadha Rao and East Godavari Weightlifting Association president Y Bhaskar Ram said now the concept of being healthy has traversed age and sex bars with both men and women becoming increasingly health conscious.
Physical fitness and regular exercises can reduce mental tension, they said, adding that the desire to have a well-toned body is what prompts the championship aspirants to go that extra mile while doing a work-out. Winners of each category were pitted against each other for the championship. V Naveen from CRR College in Eluru has been selected as Mr Adikavi Nannayya University in bodybuilding. SKBR college of Amalapuram has won team championship in weightlifting. CRR college of Eluru has won the team championship in bodybuilding.
