Srikakulam: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials seized illegally collected cash from prohibition and excise staff on the outskirts of Srikakulam town on Monday.

According to ACB Srikakulam DSP, K Ranga Raju, they received specific information and complaints over phone from owners of some wine shops in and around Palasa and Kasibugga towns in the district that enforcement wing of prohibition and excise department were forcibly collecting money every month from their shops by threatening them with dire consequences.
On Monday morning, a sub-inspector (SI), two head constables (HCs) and three constables of enforcement wing collected Rs 85,000 illegally from seven wine shop owners in and around Palasa and Kasibugga towns.
“While they were returning to Srikakulam, we caught them and seized Rs 85,000 from them following a tip-off,” the DSP explained.
