Markfed to buy red gram

In the wake of steep rise in the prices of pulses, the State government has decided to purchase 3,000 tonnes of red gram from farmers through AP Markfed (Andhra Pradesh State Co-operative Marketing Federation Ltd) in the district. Joint Collector C Hari Kiran held a meeting with the officials of various departments here on Thursday and discussed steps to be taken to realise the red gram procurement target.
Kurnool: In the wake of steep rise in the prices of pulses, the State government has decided to purchase 3,000 tonnes of red gram from farmers through AP Markfed (Andhra Pradesh State Co-operative Marketing Federation Ltd) in the district. Joint Collector C Hari Kiran held a meeting with the officials of various departments here on Thursday and discussed steps to be taken to realise the red gram procurement target.
He sought mandal-wise reports from the agricultural officials on the red gram crop acreage and expected output. Based on the reports, a decision would be taken on the number of centres to be set up in the district for the procurement of red gram. The centres would procure red gram from farmers at a price fixed by the government on daily basis after considering the demand and supply of pulses, the JC added.
