Mega runa mela in Chittoor on Jan 12

Chittoor: District Collector Siddharth Jain said that effective measures have been initiated to achieve the targets of ‘Neenu-Naarunam’ programme which is being implemented by the banks with prescribed targets. During the ongoing Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru programme, the Collector stated that the district officials and the banking authorities would jointly strive for the success of the programme.

Siddharth Jain said a mega Runa Mela would be held at Chittoor on January 12 in which all the departmental heads and the banking officials would shoulder the responsibility to make the programme success which is aimed to ensure loans from the banks to all the eligible beneficiaries in different categories. Municipal commissioners in urban locations, village-level monitoring committees, MPDOs, and panchayat secretaries’ in rural areas should take up the responsibility of conducting the Grama Sabhas and distribution of loans to the beneficiaries under the Janmabhoomi programme, he added.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Tuesday, the Collector said that an action plan has been envisaged to distribute Rs 2,793 crore loans from banks to 4.64 lakh beneficiaries. He said that the Indian Bank, the lead bank of the district, should be the sanctioning authority of loans by coordinating with the Sapthagiri Grameena Bank and other nationalised and public sector banks.

Enlisting the priorities in various sectors, Siddharth Jain said that impetus has been given for issuing crop loans for 2.24 lakh farmers on priority basis. “Loans would also be issued for micro irrigation, green houses, shade net houses, sericulture, fisheries, handlooms and textiles, education and for Mudra schemes covering all the 66 mandals in the district,” he added.

The Collector said that the instructions were given to the banks to reach their targets during the ongoing Janamabhoomi-Maa Vooru programme by taking active part in all the Grama Sabhas. Jain made it clear that wide publicity has been given for the prestigious programme in which all the issues of the public would be resolved. He said that the officials related to the Janmabhoomi programme should be very cautious to attend the Grama Sabhas and extend all cooperation to the people’s representatives for resolving the issues so the purpose of the programme is served.
