Varsity for differently-abled sought

Kakinada: AP Vikalangula Cooperative Corporation Chairman (APVC) G Koteswara Rao sought separate university on the lines of Padmavati Mahila University with research facilities to cater to the needs of differently-abled.
Speaking to media persons at R&B guest house here on Tuesday, Koteswara Rao said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu agreed for the proposal in principal.
He said that the State government had showered several sops on differently-abled, which include construction of sports complex at Visakhapatnam at a cost of Rs 100 crore and a community hall in Kakinada.
The corporation chairman complemented the efforts of visually challenged K Simhachalam – a native of Razole in East Godavari for securing IAS cadre in UPSC exams. There are 190 backlog posts in East Godavari for the differently-abled and Koteswara rao asked the district authorities to fill these posts at the earliest.
He thanked the State government for increasing pensions to the differently-abled from Rs 500 to Rs 1,500.
Assistant Director for Disabled Welfare K V V Satyanarayana, Vikalangula Hakkula Porata Samiti President Papi Reddy and others were present.
