Eluru: The Andhra Pradesh Lokayukta has directed the police officials not to allow cockfights with betting and other anti-social elements during Sankranti festival season.

G Ronald Raju, an advocate from Eluru who is also practicing in Andhra Pradesh High Court on December 29 filed complaint in Lokayukta against Director General of Police, all the 13 Districts SPs, and other police officials, with a prayer to give a direction to the police to take preventive action against the organisers of cockfights, Gundata (dice game), playing cards during ensuing Sankranti festival season and to implement Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and AP Gaming Act.

The Lokayukta issued notices to the Director General of Police and called for report and posted the matter to January 8. As the DGP did not file any report in this regard, Lokayukta delivered its order on January 8, according to lawyer G Ronald Raju.
