Glowing tributes paid to ANR
Chittoor civic body plans to install ANR’s statue. In-charge Mayor R Subri urges Prime Minister Narendra Modi to confer Bharat Ratna posthumously on ANR.
Chittoor: The Chittoor Municipal Corporation will pass a resolution to install the statue of Akkineni Nageswara Rao in the city with the support of TDP division corporators, said in-charge Mayor R Subri.
Mr Subri paid floral tributes to the portrait of Telugu cinema icon ANR here on Friday in connection with the second death anniversary of legendary actor.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that ANR lives in the hearts of millions of Telugus forever. He recalled that the veteran actor had visited Chittoor district several times and hailed ANR’s role in the establishment of Chittoor Cultural Academy.
Subri appealed to the politicians and the artistes to emulate ANR. He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to confer Bharat Ratna posthumously on ANR.
Chittoor ANR cultural Association chief Kumar said that ANR inspired Telugu film industry’s shift from Chennai.
