Guntur: Opposition parties are taking exception to the move by the Speaker of the Assembly to hold sessions at temporary locations. They are dabbing the move as unwarranted in the time when the State is starved of funds.

The Speaker is keen to hold budget session in March in the new capital region and sites like Agri Gold's Hailand and K L University are touted as possible venues with Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao visiting them.

However, political observers are of the view that the government should make permanent arrangement rather than on spending money on temporary arrangements. CPI State secretary K Rama Krishna opined that unless the government can make foolproof arrangements for holding the Assembly session in temporary location, temporary arrangements may not be a good idea, instead if all the energies are spent on permanent arrangements, it will be good for all stake holders.

YSRCP district president Marri Rajasekhar stated that expenditure on any temporary arrangement for holding Assembly session is unwarranted. “It is better for government to apply its mind on making permanent arrangements and speeding up capital works instead of diverting its energies on not so necessary things,” he added.

Siva Prasada Rao tried multiple times to hold Assembly sessions in temporary locations. In 2014, the Deichmann Hall of ANU was touted only to be shelved on the ground of not being suspicious. Similarly, the idea to hold the session in Thullur was shelved on the grounds of lack of feasibility.
