Kurnool: The Panyam police on Thursday arrested 22 persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of Apathy Prabhakar Naidu alias Babu on November 27th, 2014, on the outskirts of Ramakrishnapuram village. They seized Rs 50,25,000 and two cars from the accused who included the wife, Lakshmidevi, of the main accused Valluri Nageswara Rao lias Nagesh.

Superintendent of Police (SP) A K Ravikrishna told the media later that Prabhakar was killed by Nagesh and his followers after the two developed differences over money in a mine in Banaganapalli mandal. He said Lakshmidevi had hatched a conspiracy and hired killers for Rs 20 lakh and got Nagesh killed on January 5th, this year, while the victim was taking his son to school. Ravikrishna stated that the 22 accused were caught during checking of vehicles on January 27th afternoon near Panyam factory guest house. Weapons used for the killing, three cell phones, chilly powder were seized.

Lakshmidevi and four others were absconding, he said. The SP congratulated Nandyal DSP Harinath Reddy, Panyam CI Parthasaradhi Reddy, SI Muralimohan Rao, Nandivargam SI Narendra Kumar Reddy for their work in solving the murder case. Four arrested for circulating fake currency notes. He said the Kurnool police on Wednesday arrested four persons from Assam for their alleged involvement in circulating fake currency notes of 1,000 denomination. They seized fake notes worth Rs 1.21 lakh. Genuine currency notes of Rs 3,5000 were confiscated. The gang members-Mohd. Matiyar (27), Mohd Hakim Ali(20), Mohd Sirajul Haq (20) and Mohd. Hasmat Ali (24)-used to exchange fake currency notes in crowded places in Nandyal, Ravikrishna stated.
