Develop libraries as per changing needs
“The libraries should be developed according to the changing needs of people in society. They should provide valuable information to students and teaching staff in the colleges,” said B Ramesh Babu, retired professor and librarian of Madras University, Chennai.

He was participating in the one-day national seminar on ‘The role of professionals in information technology and library information systems’ at Sri Vishnu Engineering College for Women here on Saturday. The Seminar has conducted with the financial assistance of Tequip-2 funds.
Speaking as chief guest, Dr. Ramesh Babu said that the seminar would useful for a brainstorm with the librarians to develop library system in colleges. He said steps have to take up to develop the reading habit among students and for this; the colleges should conduct new programmes in a creative way to attract the readers.
Dr. K Somasekhar Rao, Professor Andhra University has said the librarians should develop the understanding on the modern technology and utilities for playing a vital role in the digitalization process. Dr G. Srinivasa Rao, Principal, Vishnu Engineering college, programme coordinators College Librarian A Kaladhar, Professor P Kiran Sri and students, professor participated in the seminar. About 31 librarians from various states also attended the national seminar.
