Acting on a tip off, police led by Renigunta DSP KS Nanjundappa took up a search in Gundala Kaluva area where they confronted by 8 smugglers, who were loading the red sanders logs into a vehicle.
They attacked the police with sticks and hunting sickles. The police were able to overpower the smugglers and took them into custody. However, one person managed to escape. Police are on the search to nab him.
